This portfolio began with the realization that my exploration of nonrepresentional art needed to be integrated into my love of the figure. It was a natural progression, as I have always favored figurative painting, but was feeling the need to move  toward looser, more expressive image making. Humanism, with its emphasis on compassion, is at the center of my figurative expression.
