In 2019 when I began to explore the figure in the context of abstraction, I became so immersed in the experience of this exploration that I rarely paused to look at the whole of what I had created. One day, I suddenly realized I had inadvertently painted many sets of images with similar figures/gestures, but which conveyed very different messages. This was an amazing "aha" moment, as I witnessed the conversations taking place on the walls of my studio without my explicit awareness. This portfolio presents these images in conversation, and includes those from my solo show at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in California, 7/25- 8/29/2020. A catalogue of these images is now available: see the "Books" section on this website. Individual information re each painting can be found in the "Abstracted Figure" portfolio.
